    Default How to measure Molding

What is the proper way to measure the walls for adding crown molding. I want to make sure I purchase the right size pieces for each wall. How much extra should I add to the width of each wall.

It's pretty straight forward, just measure corner to corner in each dimension. If you have any outside corners, add 1.5 times the width of the trim to the overall length - that is, if you're using 2-1/4" crown, then you'd add 3-1/2" to the length of the moulding. Keep in mind that it's best to custom cut the pieces in place, don't try to "rough cut" them to any particular length elsewhere and then bring them back to the jobsite.
