    Default heat coils in ceiling

My house was built in 1965 and has baseboard heat and heat coils that run through the plaster in the ceiling. I want to install recessed lighting and I can find good locations for the cans that don't cut into the coils by first wetting the ceiling and then turning on the heat, it will dry in lines where the coils are. My question is there must be some some supporting wiring between the coils to link them together, this wiring is of course not visible when I wet the ceiling. Is there a typical way this system was wired to connect the coils?

You can rent an infrared camera then turn on the heat and see all the wire. or hire an infrared thermographer
