I need to replace an old-style thermostat, and I'd like to get one of the 5-2 or 7-day programmable thermostats instead - for energy efficiency.

Thing is, I have a heat pump with the extra emergency heat setting, and most of the programmable types expressly say they aren't for that kind of system.

All I've found so far is a Honeywell model (RTH7500) that sells for $99, but I'd like to think I can get what I need for half that price (or less). Any suggestions?
