    Default Repointing a Fieldstone Basement

I have a 120 year old house and the mortar around the fieldstone in the basement is crumbling off. I can easily pick it away with a stiff brush.

I'm assuming I need to repoint everything after cleaning out a bit of the old stuff, but I have no idea what to really do.

How deep do I clean out? What sort of mix do I use to repoint? What are the best tools to use? Anything I'm not thinking of that I should be?

    Thanks
