    Default Primer for old faux plaster board-Tudor House

    I have a 22 year old Tudor style house that has the faux plaster board on the outside. I painted it with a high quality exterior latex 3 years ago, after cleaning and scraping the original paint which was coming off in patches (right down to the material). My most recent paint is now exhibiting cracking and lifting off as well. My question is this;
    Is there a primer solution that will inhibit the paint failure, or is the faux plaster board just worn out and disintegrating? I need to stave off replacing the 2 story front of the house for another 2 years. Any thoughts here would surely be appreciated...

    Can you use oil based primer, then latex over that?
