    Default banging pipes

I installed a new shower in a part of the bath room. I needed to extend the piping to include the new shower and mixing valve. Now the pipes bang when you adjust the mixing valve to a cooler setting. If I install air chambers in the lines will this banging stop.

Hello, it is possible, first be sure ALL pipes are strapped tight in place before deciding if you need a "water hammer"/chamber.This maybe your only problem. Straps and shimming pipes to stop any movement. Also, be sure the new mixing valve has no loose parts inside. Sometimes you can get loose, washers etc inside that cause the throttling inside. Hope this helps. GregC
