Default What kind of wood is this?

Can anyone help me determine what kind of wood was used for our flooring? The house was built in SC in 1962 if that helps?

    Thanks!

Not sure I would agree on ash or hickory. Looking at the picture I would agree more with the oak response. There is a good amount of color difference in the pieces, so can see why hickory was suggested, but still think Jack has missed the mark

Why are you asking the question? I assume you're trying to match the floor?

    Yeah, I don't think it's hickory.

We're in the process of designing a second story for the house. We're on a mission to turn our brick ranch into a neoclassical. Just trying to figure out what the wood is to match it on the stairs and second floor, and to replace in a 1st floor bathroom we're taking out and pulling the tile from.

Hard to tell from the photo but it doesn't look like oak ---- maybe ash --- could be hickory ---- possibly heart pine.

try this link to see if anything matches ................
