    Default shower body

Hi,I,m planning to rip out my old shower ,tile and all. My existing shower body is a MOEN. I've replaced the inside cartridge of this many times.Everyone tells me ,"if I'm doing the shower over, replace the entire shower body"?Is this neccessary to replace the entire body??It's 20 yrs old.thanks

Simple answer is no, you can keep it just the way it is, but... if you have one that doesn't control the maximum temperature it would be recommended. At the very lest purchase a new "trim kit" for the valve, they're quite reasonably priced.

Replacing a shower valve is more of a "better safe than sorry" type of thing, also it could be a matter of updating the design of the bathroom. Is it absolutely necessary, no, not if the current valve is in good working order and aesthetically pleasing.
