    Default Compressing f/g insulation

If I use fiberglass batts that are thicker by a few inches than the wall space, will I lose insulation value?

Howdy yes compression of the fiberglass does reduce its R value. you might consider instead separating the extra from the batts then installing the sized batts.the ca it pulls apart easily.

    Yes.

It is not the insulation that does the work, it is the trapped air inside it.
I suffer from CDO ... Its like OCD, but in alphabetical order, LIKE IT SHOULD BE!!!
