    Exclamation De icing steps less than 1 year old

    What do you use to de Ice and de snow concrete steps that were poured less than a year ago?

    Sand will provide traction. Magnesium chloride is said to be less damaging to concrete. It may depend more on the concrete used and finishing. A sealer may help protect the concrete, but may make it more slippery when wet.

    Don't use rock salt as it will break down the concrete. Magnesium chloride has the best reputation for not damaging the concrete.
