Unhappy Do I fire the drywall installer?

We had a new door installed and now one person is finishing inside of my home. Yesterday I stopped him before he started to mud when I noticed the drywall around the door was higher than the door frame.Today he will demo the 1/2" drywall around the door and rehang 1/4" drywall.
Just look at the pictures and let me know if I'm crazy or at least half right to question this guy's work.

    Some pretty sloppy drywall work.

I do drywall myself and I am not a contractor. I WOULD FIRE THIS GUY ASAP.
Looks like he used roofing nails for one. The nails will eventually pop out.
If the drywall isn't flush with the door jam, your door casing(trim) won't fit flat.
1/4 drywall should not be used for any exterior wall, not thick enough to keep temperature controlled, you will have a cold area. Anything less than 1/2 inch is for overlay only, for ex... to repair an entire wall without removing old drywall.
Drywall is very forgiving and can be taped, patched, etc etc..but the less seems you have on an exterior wall the better.

I would do the job for you if I could. I love it and do a pretty good job, and I am a woman.

drywall is one of the trades that I do. the drywall to the left of the door isn't nailed off and the drywall to the right isn't nailed off properly. very sloppy hanging. never should leave that big of gaps. the fact that the drywall sticks out beyond the door jam says that the door wasn't set correctly. the exterior of the door jam should set out from the stud 1/2 to 5/8 of an inch this allows for the drywall. the correct fix would be to cut some wood to act as a jam extension instead of trying to hang thinner drywall.

I have never seen anybody trim off a door to the studs then do drywall.

    " will not do period.

As mentioned above it looks like he used roofing nails and he obviously doesn't know how to dimple.

I think the door is improperly installed and the drywall leaves a lot to be desired.

Holy Macanolli! You better fire the lot of them. I don't even do drywall but could do a better job than that of setting the door and drywall as well..........

One thing though: No nails means a much smoother finish.......... JK.

***, yeah i gotta agree. That is pretty damn horrible drywall work.

Even I could do better than that, and I dont know a damn thing about drywall. However, I DO know how to use a tape measure, something the contractor obviously forgot at home.

    Fire them.
