Lightbulb Cold basement, old electric fireplace

We have a very drafty basement and only one heating zone. We'd like more heat since that is part of our living space. Does anyone know if there is a way to convert the old electric fireplace into a pellet stove? Or easily replace it with one?

Generally speaking, no. An electric fire place has no flue or chimney both of which you would need with a pellet stove. You might consider an Eden Pure heater instead.

    christine:

Could you explain the type of heat you have in the rest of the house???

You say you "have one zone"---does this mean you have forced hot water or forced hot air in the rest of the house???

Another zone can often be created out of such heating systems.
