    Default planting the right grass

I live in East texas and want to know what kind of grasses to plant under oak trees. These is just dirt there now. Grass grows under until the tree is in full leaves then the grass dies.

grass needs sun, Oak trees provide full shade.

Forget planting grass under there mulch under it and plant shade loving plants like coleus and hostas.

My father in law fought for about 6 years to grow grass under his oak tree. The year my husband and I took over the house and put the hosta bed under there he swore we would kill the tree. 10 years later the bed looks great and the new home owners love it.
