    Default Insulating a tub.

Just had an Aquatica whirlpool installed in a new bathroom and still have access to the underneath. Is it worth it to insulate the area around the tub for sound suppression? If so what is the best type of insulation for this application?

I tend to insulate under steel & cast iron tubs to help retain heat. It's not really worth the effort on fiberglass or acrylic tubs though

As far as sound suppression on your tub, the motor would be the noisiest part of the tub, but it needs some air to breathe. You'd be better off insulating the walls around the tub and possibly the floor under it, if there is living space below.

Besides .... you also need access to the pump and plumbing for service.
