    Default Polyurethane VS. Tung oil

    Hey everyone,

This is my first post here and I just wanted to get your opinion on something. I have a new hardwood banister in my house and I spent some time sanding and staining it just right. My next step is to put on a protective finish and I'm weighing two options, should I put on a few coats of Tung oil and some butchers wax or put on a few coats of Polyurethane. Right now I'm leaning towards the Polyurethane because I'm doing both the banister and posts and the Polyurethane can get into the tight spots.

    Thanks in advance.

I would use 3 coats of Polyurethane because it will give you a longer lasting finish and you will need it on the railing.
