    Default Tub Refinish

I have an old claw foot type tub that needs to be stripped and refinished. Question: what the heck is the finish that is on these things? Second: what type of stripper works good for this job? Sanding does not work well...just irritates the tub a bit is all. It does need stripped to bare bones...thanks for the input

The interior of the tube is a baked on porcelain enamel. A stripper will not remove it. Sand blasting or acid is needed. You will not be able to redo it as it was originally done. Acid etching and an epoxy finish seems to be the standard way it is done but that finish is only good for about 5 years and although it can be done by a DIYer it is probably best left to a professional.
