I am in the beginning stages of grouting my new backsplash. I used tumbled stone for it's character and "hole" appearence. Reading up before grouting, I did the recommended sealing the stone twice before grouting.

The only problem is that it is impossible not to fill up the holes with grout in the tile that add so much character. I've tried precision placing the grout but it is so tedious and I end up covering most of the tile anyway. The only other thing that I can think of to protect the tile is to place tape over it - but I know that won't work...

Any ideas?... please?

Thanks!
Steve
