I live on Long Island and I have zoysia grass and I believe I have a thatch problem. Is it ok to de-thatch zoysia grass? I was told by a home depot emoployer not to de-thatch zoysia. If I can do it, what is the best time to de-thatch? If it's not recommended should I just aerate the lawn instead?
Re: De-thatch Zoysia
My husband said that you usually don't have to de-thatch zoysia because it doesn't put out runners.
He says you can aerate just about any time. It would be perfect to time it before a nice rain. My personal thought is after the freeze is over.
