foam insulation in an attic with a slate roof
I have a slate roof - no vents - and want more insulation - can I use hard foam? - and if so, what about condensation?
Re: foam insulation in an attic with a slate roof
I don't think the hard foam insulation is used in the roof rafters. I think it is used only for basement walls. You need to used regular fiberglass insulation in the rolls. Or there is a type that is loose and can be blown in as well. But, if you apply it directly to the roof you will also need to place foam panels to allow for air flow between the roof plywood and the insulation. Otherwise you will damage the roof. Good luck. Process of elimination.
