    Default transplanting holly

I live in New Jersey and have several thriving holly bushes. I was wondering if it would be possible to successfully transplant one of them to a better spot in the yard.

They are pretty hardy . I have one that I cut down and it keeps sprouting . I have even sprayed it with herbicide and it comes back . Point is , they aren't fragile .

Usually transplanting in the early spring before much new growth works best for most plants. I transplanted a 5' american holly in the early spring a few years ago with good results. I got as big a ball as possible & dragged it with my truck to a hole that was prepped with compost.I only moved mine about 50' to its new location. I took extra care to water it that first summer. Don't forget to stake it.
