    Default vapor barrier

I see Mike Holmes on Holmes on homes useing plastic on everything, ceiling & walls tuck tapeing every joint.
I think they tape the show in Canada. I live in Kansas and have read that a barrior may not be a good idea. New construction it is required, outside only I think. What do you think?

In cold climates like we have here in the Great White North it is a mandatory requirement. I believe it's also a code requirement in some states that have winter climates as well.

It's purpose is to prevent warm and cold air from mixing which can cause condensation. The vapor barrier will always be on the warm side.

In the warmer areas the vapor barrier may be applied toward the outside.
