Hello, everybody. I hope somebody here can help me make a decision. We have to tear down our cinder-block garage because of structural issues, and we have to replace it with a metal building because of financial issues.
The old garage was built with roof trusses, which our demolition guy says he can save with no problem and no extra cost. Every building contractor we've had out agrees that they appear to be in fine shape. Here's the question:
I was going to dismantle the trusses and use the lumber in the new garage. But the demo guy says I could sell them for big bucks as trusses. The problem is, I can't find trusses ANYWHERE to price them. So, salvage-oriented people, would you buy used roof trusses, and if so, what sort of price could I expect for trusses from a 24-foot wide building? (If it matters, I'm in western North Carolina.)
Thanks for any input.
