Question Laying vinyl flooring over tile that sits on heating system underneath

Does anyone have experience laying sheet vinyl flooring over existing ceramic tile? The tile sits on top of a floor heating system, so we're hesitant to take out any cracked tile and replace with another in case we damage the heating system underneath.

    Any advice??

    Thanks,

The one thing you don't want to do is lay the vinyl directly over the tile.
Any depression such as the grout lines or cracks will telegraph through the vinyl showing on the surface. You would need to lay a sub-surface down first before applying the vinyl.
This will now add to the thickness of the floor and adds to the difficulty of fastening the sub-surface for the vinyl.

It's unclear as to what type of floor structure and how the radiant heat tubing are placed.

Is the floor a concrete slab with the tubing embedded?

Is this wood framed floor over a basement or crawl space with the tubing mounted under the sub floor or surface mounted?

How is the tile installed .... with a concrete board over the sub floor and tile adhered to the concrete board ?

The tile sits on a subfloor. The heating system looks like a large piece of (electrical) netting that sits between the tile and subfloor.Temperature is controlled by a thermostat on the wall.

I'll find out if concrete slab is under the subfloor. Seems like we'd have many fewer cracked tiles if there is concrete underneath.

Thanks for the advice and help. Much appreciated

No, subfloor does not sit on concrete, just on standard floor wood construction.
