    Default noisy pipe

When water is being run in the house the water line coming into the house makes a groaing type noise. It just started a couple of weeks ago. No plumbing work has been done for years. Any suggestions?

It is public water supply. copper lines. Water line comes into basement. No earth movement etc. Temp. outside has been below freezing but this has not caused problem before.

I think you may have an incease in city/county water pressure. It is really anybodies guess, but, after a few months if some of your facets start to drip or you simply notice "more flow" coming through the facets, you may want to check the pressure. Good luck. Process of elimination.
