    Default Flapper Won't Go Down

I replaced our flapper (from our American Standard toilet) with a new one from Fluidmaster. Now, after a few flushes, the the flapper stays up. I've checked the flapper and the tube to see if there was any dirt or debris holding up the flapper---none. When I put it back, it works fine again for a few flushes, then remains open again.

    Any ideas out there?

The chain from the flush lever to the flapper could be too short, raising the flapper too high so that it sticks in the open position. You want to set the length so that it's plenty slack when the flapper is closed and raises the flapper just enough so that it stays open for the duration of the flush.
