Default Attaching wood railing posts to brick

How can/should wooden posts for railings be attached to a 25 year old brick porch? There have not previously been railings on this porch.

I would prefer galvenized U-brackets to support the post off the brick for moisture reasons. Use a masonry bit to drill mounting holes into the brick, secure bracket, and mount post. If you are also mounting rail to brick posts, same way. Myself, I would measure and build the railing sections first, then dry fit to determine the exact position for the brackets.
