Basement floor & concrete dust
3 months ago, we moved into a new house with an unfinished concrete basement. The concrete continues to shed excess dust. We want an inexpensive and environmentally safe way to control the dust using paint or sealers. Yet, directions suggest etching first using an acid wash. If the floor is washed and dry, does it need etching? If so, is there another way besides using acid? SBT
Re: Basement floor & concrete dust
I would recommend using tri-sodium-phosphate (TSP) from the local home improvement store, it mixes with water. Just follow the directions. After that has dried for at least four hours you can put on a concrete sealer, Thompsons makes a great product, like Thompsons Water Seal for masonary and concrete. It goes on very easily with a short nap paint roller. Hope this helps.
