    Unhappy 6 hours to replace tub valve? $750.labor only?

    large remodeling job, have to watch costs, plumber took 6 hours to change tub valve, waste/overflow, bill $750.00 I thought this was excessive. Easy access to back of tub in closet. Replys?This was labor only.

    That does sound a bit excessive. That is one of the hazards of hiring by the hour rather than getting bids, even for a small job such as this. If there were no special circumstances involved, it shouldn't have taken more than a couple hours to accomplish the work.

    On the other hand, the last plumber I hired was $150 an hour and he said that his competition was $200 and up. Considering that your guy was there for 6 hours and charged only $750, doesn't seem all that bad in comparison.

    i manage a very large plumbing company here in the south and am a master plumber myself. Where that may seem excessive i promise that is a fair price for what was done. you can always shop around but you usually get what you pay for.
