    Default Hardwired light to Plug

We have recently purchased light that is to be hard wired to the ceiling but are wondering if it would be difficult to convert to a wall plug.

I'm guessing you want to attach a cord with a plug to use it with an outlet instead of hard wiring it to a ceiling box?

Not sure why you want this .... but .... It can be done ... though that's not likely how it was designed and UL approved for.

Depending on the light fixture if it has an open mounting plate you definitely need to consider using an appropriate method to cover the wire connections. You also have to properly secure the cord preventing the wire connections from being pulled apart and causing a short while plugged in.

THanks for the reply. I want to put the fixture above a wall unit that doesn't have a electrical supply in the ceiling and would like to run the cord down behind the unit and plug it in.

    Possible?
