Thread: Wet Carpeting

    Default Wet Carpeting

We rent a house, single story with no basement and the house is about 20 years old. I just discovered a small wet spot on the carpeting in the guest bedroom, not very big. Can't find a source for the wetness, but seems to be coming from under the carpet. Don't see any water anywhere else in the house or outside along the foundation.
Have soaked the spot up with a towel and about an hour later doesn't seem any worse. What might the problem be?

Do you have a dog in the house?

No, no dog, I've noticed a few more spots, seem to be in a line which matches up with an outside faucet. Haven't noticed any water outside though, just damp spots on the carpet.

Have you checked the craw space? Could be you've had a freeze that burst a pipe or faucet and it's spraying the bottom of the floor.

Thanks, it was coming from the shower. Had a plumber come over this morning, said it was because the tub spout was not installed properly, there was about an inch gap between it and the shower wall. Seems too simple! Thanks for the advice.
