    Default Kohler/Moen...Home Depot and Lowes

I have heard from several sources that Home Depot and Lowes carry an inferior level of quality of name brand items, especially Kohler and Moen faucets. Is this true? Why would these reputable companies distribute lesser quality products to anyone? If I bought a "Kohler" faucet at Home Depot that fell apart I wouldn't be likely to replace it with the same brand. (BTW...all of the faucets we have purchased have been from Plumbing supply houses NOT the big box stores, have we been duped?)

Just curious if what we have been told is true...Thanks!

My plumber has said the same thing. It all boils down to money. Cheap faucets are cheap to make and cheap to buy, resulting in higher price margins for the retailer and perceived lower prices to the consumer.

Yeah, I understand the retailer being willing to sell the cheaper product, what I don't understand is the faucet company wanting to put their name on the product. But, if they all do it then I guess it is all a wash...

Thanks for all of your input! I have noticed that some of the items have the same style name but different numbers. Wasn't sure if it was just me or not. I guess it really does pay to be an educated consumer.

I too, would be interested to see those letters!

***! And I just replaced four builder grade bathroom faucets purchased at a big box. I too would like to see the letters.
