    Default marble sill removal?

We are putting new windows in a house that has marble sills. There is no molding or trim around the windows, it just has a marble sill on the inside. We would like to add window trim, so I guess we will get rid of the marble sill. I'm just not sure if there is any reason why we wouldn't be able to remove it. I'm not sure if it has to do with the way the windows were framed. Does anyone have any experience with this? the home is a 1948 cape cod.

usually marble window sills just have adhesive under them to hold them in place as well as maybe caulked around the perimiter

Rather than remove the marble sills, you may want to simply install a new sill on top of them. Sill-Rite makes a durable vinyl sill that is attractive and can usually be installed right on top of marble sills. If the thickness of the existing sill is 3/8" or less, the Sill-Rite sill will hide the marble sill. You can get more information on their web site: www.sill-rite.com

    I hope this helps.
