    Question piker

Could you tell me if foam insulation give off hazardous gases? If put on too thick will it "gas off" more and give off bad odors, I mean real bad odors? The odor is irritating to the nose and eyes and had to leave the house for a few days until the house was aired out and the odor is still here 1 year later. The foam insulation was applied to the rim joist area in the basement.

Was this a commercial application or a DIY application.
As far as I know all harmful gassing has been eliminated from commercial foam but there are some DIY products that may be suspect. I have noticed that some of the DIY products have a rather pungent burnt smell when applied.

This was a commercial application. It was sprayed on to a full 4 inches in one pass.

4" or 6" in one pass is not uncommon.
