    Default Shower vs. toilet

In our master bath, when you take a shower, the drain backs up and the toilet gurggles (sp). I do have a septic tank and wondering if it could be the tank or am I missing something so easy? I snaked the drain in the shower however the poblem still continues...help!

Second, are the toilet and the tub on the same branch? It's unlikely but there may be a blocked line. You can also have your septic system pumped; they should be able to give you a general idea of the health of your system. Check the vent on the roof and make sure it is not blocked at all. These things might help to troubleshoot the source of the problem.

take care of the shower drain first, remove overflow cover and snake the drain, possibly as much as 25',or until blockage is pushed to the soilstack.

It sounds to me like you either have a blocked, shared or missing vent pipe.
