    Default Slow draining bathtub

Just bought a house and found that the jetted tub in the spare bathroom is draining extremely slowly. We used a drain cleaner but have decided it's not due to a clogged drain....rather it appears the tub was installed too far away from the stack. (From what we have read, the drain needs to be no further than 6 feet from the vent.) Is there a way we can resolve this problem without major work having to be done? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, BeJa

    hi,
u need to snake the drain, you only 1/2 understand what youve read, the tub has its own vent somewhere between the tub and the stack, how does the sink drain?does it back into the tub?

Not quite sure how the sink drains. We will be going back up this weekend and will make a point of getting under the house to check things out. Thanks for the suggestion. We'll try snaking it and see if that helps.

ya,wont hurt to take a peek,in alot of cases the tub and sink are on the same drain,if u fill the tub to the point its draining slow then fill the sink and let it go watch for water backing into the tub,if thats the case its alot easier snaking the drain from the p-trap under the sink..provided its not a pedestal sink....gl
