    Default Relocate PVC cleanout

I am finishing my basement and need to rotate an existing clean out in a 4" PVC sanitary sewer drain pipe. The pipe is fixed above and below the clean out. Please offer advice.

If by "fixed", you mean secured to a structural member, then you're good to go. If not, first secure/strap the pipe.

Then cut the pipe several inches above and below the existing clean-out. Then.........rotate and use a couple Fernco fittings to reassemble things.

Or.....you could also use what's known as a repair coupling instead of the Fernco. These are plastic couplings without a rib on the interior so that you can freely slide them up and down the pipe. These would be solvented welded in place like any other plastic fitting.

The Ferncos will be less hassle and if you ever have a need to totally remove that clean-out, it'll be a snap to do so.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give the Fernco fittings a go.
