    Default Re insulating an attic

The attic has what is left of the insulation after a community of squirrel relocated. Some areas are shredded.I relize the area they used as a bathroom must be removed. Should all existing insulating go or can we put new down batted over it?

Howdy first eliminate how they got in- some will come back again and again as they have this stubbornness. The area needs to be removed and then the issue with the droppings . If smell. consider applying 1 part Clorox to 8 parts water and put in a spray bottle and mist the area once you removed the waste. Let the dry and install new insulation. This is usually a spot repair not a removal of all the insulation.
