Default Blackening of a fiberglass covered door

We have a steel exterior door that is covered in either a fiberglass or formica "fake" wood outer shell. Its about 4 yrs old. Earlier this summer some black areas began to appear on the exterior surface only. We actually thought it might be mold and scrubbed it but there was no change. The black stuff doesn't even dirty the rag. I has no idea what is going on. I have attached two pictures. Any suggestions???

Are you sure it's not a Masonite type skin with the finish scratched off.
