    Default recessed lighting

    I am building a cabin, it has a vaulted ceiling with 2X8 rafters on 16" centers, can i use recessed lights in this application? and how about insulation? any help will be appericated thanks

    I believe that Juno makes a slope ceiling can that is rated for insulation contact.It's been a while,but I think that they are about 6.5" deep.That may not leave room for much insulation.You should try a local electrical supply store to see what they have.Don't forget to bring your tape measure.

    Halo also makes a light for sloped ceilings and most residetial can lights will fit in a 2x8 ceiling (or floor joists like in an older basement) also most come in an ic and non ic format.

    ic= insulation contact
    non ic= no insulation contact
