    Default electrical connection gas insert

I am installing a gas insert into an existing masonry fireplace. I've drilled a hole into the firebox for the gas line. I plan to direct wire the fan. Can I run electricity for the fan (shielded metal cable) through the same hole that I'm running the gas line? Installation instructions just advise to run a plug in cord to an outlet.
    Thanks

I would advise the outlet you may have to pull the unit out for service. If you're using black pipe for the gas line you should be able to use the same hole but if you're using copper for th gas line you'll need to keep dissimilar metal separated.

    Jack,
Thanks for the advice and good point about the outlet. We're using black iron pipe so we should be OK. Thanks for the quick response.
