My house was built in 1894. in the bathroom there is old wood-look-alike flooring, it is glued to the planks beneath it. I'm not sure when it was installed, but it is cracked and peeling and smells really bad. (of course, this is where it would have suffered standing water or urine) - this was also after I pulled up old carpeting that was on top. I was wondering if I need to worry that there is asbestos in the glue when I'm scraping it up. I thought that if I could find out whether it is vinyl or laminate, I might be able to figure out what kind of glue was used. I read somewhere that laminate didn't come to the US until 1994, but I couldn't even tell how old the carpet on top was. Any advice or hints would be appreciated. The floor covering is in strips - approx 4" wide and 18". Any advice would be appreciated.
