All of these suggestions are great

I wanted to add that latex paint is a great primer for gilding. Then touch up with the Rub and Buff for scratches from installation.

Yes, I purchased one from ArchitecturalDepot.com and liked it so much I ordered a 2nd one. I ordered both just primed because I wanted to paint them myself to go with accent colors in the rooms. I used acrylic paints and they look really good!

Rust-Oleum has spray cans especially for going directly over plastics. If you don't find the color you want, they have a plastic primer and then you can put any paint or spray can paint over the primer. It is available at Home Depot.

Also, both Ralph Lauren and Martha Stewart have brushable latex metalic paints. Martha Stewarts is available at Home Depot also.
