cast iron under house/liner questions
I'd appreciate some input. Three years ago we replaced the old collapsed tar paper pipe that led from the cast iron line (22 feet under the house) to the street. The next year roots grew into the connection and we had to re-dig and cut back the CI pipe 2 feet and reconnect the PVC-type pipe. Now it's happened again with the roots and I just cannot imagine cutting the CI again.
I read another thread on this forum and it mentioned a liner to be placed inside the CI pipe. Please tell me if this is an industry standard procedure and how expensive it might be.
We live in NJ, so I'm hoping this liner can be used where the winters are sometimes a bit cold and also if we have to expose the CI pipe under the house again to fit it through.
