    Default Matching old stain

I am working on a house that is over 100 years old with about 60% of the trim still stained. It has a reddish brown color that I am trying to match on some replacement trim that I need to install. It's pretty easy to match paint colors, but does anyone have a suggestion other than trial and error on how to or who to go to to match this stain?

Kelly Moore and Sherwin Williams will both match stains, take a sample of the existing into them with samples of the replacement material and let them have at it. Most of the name brand shops will probably be able to do it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try that this weekend.

You're welcome, you may need to call first to ask where their main distribution facility is, as this is where my local KM and SW shops do their best work. The store level competency is hit and miss whereas the distribution facility tends to do better work.
