Default best HVAC for old house

I am buying a brick townhouse built in 1857, 3 stories, 14' ceilings, large open rooms. I am in Savannah, GA. I need to replace all 3 heatpumps and want to know if heatpumps are the best option in this climate with high ceilings. There is a reasonable amt of insulation in the attic, none in the walls (exposed brick)and the windows are wood, single pane.

I think the best thing for you to do is call 3 different HVAC contractors to do a survey on the house and see what they recommend. You might also call your local utility company to do an energy audit. Once you have all the information and the prices you can make an intelligent decision.
