    Default removing tub drain

I've been replacing all the tub fixtures on and old Kohler tub. Now that I've gotten to the tub drain I've found that the two tabs that you use to remove the drain with a drain wrench are worn down to the point that the drain wrench has nothing to hook onto. My question is - is there some other way to remove the tub drain?

Maybe a pair of linesman pliers, any access underneath?
