Re: Insulating 2 layers of celiling in attic
The R19 of cellulose is covering the original plaster ceiling on the attic side ?

The critical area is the attic side of the old plaster ceiling for increasing the insulation. This prevents the heat loss into the attic during the winter and the heat gain from the attic into the living space during the warm seasons.
The main thing is to ensure that any holes or gaps from the old plaster ceiling are covered and sealed to the attic space.
Hope this helps.
