Question Gas heater had cracked heat exchanger

I have a cold house and a tech that just came and said my ~20 yr. old Rheem gas unit has a cracked heat exchanger. The unit had the compressor replaced 7 years ago. Do I start over or see if they can repair the heat exchanger?

You cannot repair heat exchanger, you need to replace it.

Cost of heat exchanger varies from company to company. Ball park estimate are 100 dollars to 500 dollars plus labor.
Since yours is 20 yrs old, you may have trouble finding parts for it,sometimes it is cheaper to replace the whole unit and be done with it.

    Good Luck.

You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the Duct Tape.

I would recommend getting a new furnace because of the improved efficiencies that are available now.
