    Default Shaken but not stirred

Whenever I flush either of my two toilets, I hear and feel a vibration that eminates from somewhere and then up to the toilet. Is this water hammer? What could cause this? When I run a sink or a shower I don't hear or feel this vibration.

    Some side info:
    -Public Sewer
    -original piping (circa 1960)

Water hammer is a distinctive banging sound when water flow is suddenly turned off with a faucet.
From the vintage of the plumbing it's not likely the cold water supply for the toilet is separate rather tapped off the cold water supply to the sink.

Is the sound related to the toilets more of a groaning sound ?
This may be an issue of a shut off valve for a toilet not fully opened or the ball cock valve diaphragm vibrating or the float is out of adjustment inside the tank.

I guess its not water hammer. I think the problem is from the actual flow of water to sewage pipe. There isn't any clanking or banging. It is a loud vibration that you can even feel in the floor of the house.

After the toilet has emptied and during the duration the tank is filling do you hear this noise then ?

If it's around the duration of filling the tank I doubt it has anything to do with the sewage pipe since most of the waste has already gone done the pipe while the bowl is flushing to when it empties.
Check the shut off valves to make they're fully open.
