I have used the chicken-wire set under a few inches of mulch for many, many years. It works great under my large azalea beds and other perennials. It's trickier to keep the varmints out of annuals, but have also used bits of chicken wire there.

Why on earth are people allowed to have 'pets' which invade their neighbors' yards, kill songbirds, and leave filth?!?! A trap sounds like a great idea to me!

    Has anyone mentioned this yet?

    Just occurred to me.

Motion detecting sprinkler head like those used to deter deer. ??? Don't know if you could adjust the sensitivity to detect something as small as cats or not.

I've seen a few vids ****** of motion detector sprinklers set up to get squirrels, so cats shouldn't be a problem.

Actually, it shouldn't be that hard to rig up a motion sensor to a relay to a solenoid valve that would turn on a sprinkler system big enough to hit the whole dang garden space at once.

    That'd teach 'em.

Plant common rue, it will deter the cats.

The latest issue of TOH mag has a tip that says liberally spread coffee grounds in the garden to keep cats out.
